Inspiration Comes in Unintended Moments

During the Central and Southern Regional Camp for Scouts at Damphu HSS in December 2013, I had volunteered my services. I was put in Base 5 “Building Tower”of Patrol Race where I had to provide 50 small bamboo sticks and rubber bands to each patrol when they arrived at my base and they had to build a tower.

Meeting friends at Rover’s camp

The first night I reached there was at around 9:30 pm. It was a slippery journey, especially the last leg, but when my headlights shone on the campground I saw the remnant of a campfire around which were seated dark shapes. I could make out tents encircling the campground, and lights being reflected from the puddles on the ground (from the recent shower). The lone bulb hanging on a pole near the campfire barely offered enough light.

Basically Scouting

During the 4th Rovers Adventure Camp at the National Scouts Centre in Paro, a number of Scout Leaders and Senior Scouts had volunteered their services as Camp Staff. I was part of that group. And in attendance as participants of the camp were Rovers from premiere institutions across the country, Community Based Scouts (CBS) and Rovers from Denmark.

Summer Journey to Paro

Every summer from 1st to the 15th of July is the summer vacation for all the schools in Bhutan. Students and teachers alike look forward to this respite in-between the hectic schooling which takes almost nine months of the year.
