Basically Scouting

During the 4th Rovers Adventure Camp at the National Scouts Centre in Paro, a number of Scout Leaders and Senior Scouts had volunteered their services as Camp Staff. I was part of that group. And in attendance as participants of the camp were Rovers from premiere institutions across the country, Community Based Scouts (CBS) and Rovers from Denmark.

Now it seemed that out Bhutanese camp staff were found to be using the word "basically" so much so that a Danish Rover had made a remark in her diary about 'basically' being an important word in Bhutan. That got our attention, and we started feeling conscious while uttering that word...but it hung at the tip of our tongue. From the third day, whenever anyone uttered that word, we all fell down laughing. And among the camp staff, this word became famous...so we started using it frequently in jest.

Later when I got an idea to create a Facebook group for the scout volunteers of Bhutan, the word 'basically' stuck in my mind...so I thought, why not "Basically Scouting"?

Thus the Facebook group Basically Scouting was born.
