My Maiden Visit to Tamchog Lhakhang

Tamchog Lhakhang is a temple that is seen by travelers along the Paro-Thimphu highway but hardly visited.

Every time I travel the Thimphu-Paro highway, I espy this beautiful temple located at a small hillock on the other side of Pachhu. One can also see a traditional bridge spanning the river at the base of the hillock.

"Today's moments are tomorrow's memories"

I love Sundays

Again I am here, on the hilltop overlooking the monastery. My companion has left me, to explore on his own.

Deliverance

I grip the steering wheel tightly as I take the curves at 60. I am alone, and I am shit scared. It is late night and I usually don’t drive alone at night. With a cigarette clenched between my lips and music blaring from my car speakers, I snake the treacherous roads of the hills above Wamrong.
I have to reach Mongar tonight….because my darling lay in the Hospital, crying out my name, waiting to deliver our baby girl.

Of Dad’s Travels to Bodh Gaya

A few days ago I went to pay my respects to my elderly dad. He was staying at in-law Sonam’s place.

It’s been quite a while since we have seen each other and physically met. We do talk occasionally through cell phone. He is based in Chorten Kora, where he has a small business, dealing in dapa and phorb. I have been working in Bumthang for the past year and half. Since my wife works here in Thimphu, and during what little holidays I manage to scrape, I usually travel here rather than to my village Yangtse. So this past summer vacation, I directly came here and stayed with my wife and her parents.
